Theodore (Ted) A. Laugen

Theodore (Ted) A. Laugen, 71, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at his family home in Hungry Horse with loving family at his side.

Ted was born in Havre on July 24, 1936 to Arvid and Myrtle Laugen. He was raised in Havre and graduated from Havre High School.

He married Ruth Bradbury on Sept. 8, 1956. They lived in Havre, Santa Maria, Calif., Federal Way, Wash., and Hungry Horse.

Ted worked on the Great Northern Railroad, farmed on the Bradbury farm north of Havre before going to college in southern California and starting employment with Boeing. Ted retired from Boeing in 1995.

He was a licensed minister with the Assembly of God Church.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Julian Laugen, and a sister, Clara Robertson.

Ted loved his family, friends and most of all Jesus. He showed that through the way he lived his life. Ted will be missed by all that knew him and we will see you soon.

Ted is survived by his wife, Ruth (Bradbury) Laugen of Hungry Horse; daughters, Crystal (Jesse) Macias of Burley, Idaho and Melody (Les) Szostek of Columbia Falls; son, Tad (Kimberly) Laugen of Burley, Idaho; brother, Robert Laugen of Peoria, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been set up in Ted’s name at the Glacier Bible Camp, Hungry Horse, for youth scholarships.

Services have been held.

Wilda (Willie) Nielsen

Wilda (Willie) Nielsen, 63, passed away on July 25, 2007 at Kalispell. Willie and Hans were married for 16 years. They lived in Columbia Falls for several years, then moved to Coram.

Willie did waitress work and catering all her working days. She was very active in the Red Hat Society in Bullhead City, Ariz., where they spent their winters.

Willie is survived by her husband Hans; two children, Tamera (Mark) Johnston and Bradley Mills (special friend Molly); two step grandchildren, Duane Nielsen of Columbia Falls and Bobbi Nielsen of Kalispell; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Stanley (Betty) Buck of Columbia Falls; Eugene Buck of Columbia Falls; Jim (Jan) Buck of Isle, Minn.; and Gary Buck (special friend Lisa of Missouri); and four sisters, Barb Englert of Park Rapids, Minn.; Sharon Thomsen (close friend Bob Nelson) of Mora, Minn.; Judy (Leo) Brenny of Sachse, Texas; and Linda Buck of St. Paul, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Frances Buck of Columbia Falls.

Su Song Smith

Su Song Smith, 65, Columbia Falls, was suddenly taken away from all who loved her on the morning of Wednesday, July 25, 2007.

Su Song was born May 5, 1942 in a small village in South Korea. In 1971, she came to the Flathead Valley, residing most of her time in Columbia Falls.

She is survived by her beloved husband, best friend and love of her life, Patrick C. Smith.

Pat would like to share with everyone some of the special things she enjoyed in her life. Su had her Play Time she shared with all that who knew her. She loved her garden, traveling, boating, special trips to Glacier National Park and most of all, she loved to play keno. Su Song touched many and put a song in every heart she met and will be greatly missed.

We love you Su and we’ll see you again on the morning run.

Regina Marie Weiand

Regina Marie Weiand, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 28, 2007 in Mount Juliet, Tenn.

Regina was a devout Catholic who prayed to her Lord daily. She attended mass every day until age 90 and for many years she provided the flowers for the alter at St. Richard’s Catholic Church. She was a kind hearted woman who welcomed everyone to her home where she provided them with something to eat. Her specialty was cooking German food in the tradition of her German background. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She loved everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Weiand; her parents, Anton and Caroline Hoerner; and 16 siblings.

Regina is survived by her son, Steve (Lynda) Weiand; a grandson, Chris Weiand; a sister, Helen Brinkerhoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at 9 a.m. at St. Richard?s Catholic Church in Columbia Falls. Rev. John Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Richard’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Sellars Funeral Home in Mount Juliet, Tenn.

Local arrangements are with the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.

Urval S. Warner

Urval S. Warner passed away Friday, July 27, 2007. For the past month he was a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Whitefish where he touched the heart strings of many assisting him.

He was born in Peabody, Mass., on Nov. 10, 1906. Urval was the one of eight children born to Gilbert and Mae Warner. He moved with his parents to the Manchester community near Great Falls in 1910.

He began his working career in his grade school years. Urval married Alice Nelson on March 4, 1928 in Manchester. He worked on a large ranch farming and hauling hay until a job of working on road construction in the Nyack area enticed him to move his family to Nyack in 1931. When they moved, he drove a team of horses and wagon from Great Falls to Nyack. Two years later they moved to Columbia Falls where he did more road construction and hauled logs for several years and raised his family. In 1956 they moved to a farm in the LaSalle community where he continued to raise crops and farmed through the age of 100 years young, with the assistance and love of his son, Will. In the ’60s, for a few years, he was also a popular school bus driver on a route for contractor, Hank Larkin. His dedicated, loving wife, Alice, preceded him in death in 1988.

Urval did not know the meaning of retirement; it was never a word in his vocabulary. The family believes his work ethic was a driving force in his longevity.

Urval is survived by two sons, Will Warner of Columbia Falls; Pat Warner and wife Yvonne of Kalispell; sister Faye Reeves of Columbia Falls; sisters-in-law Mary Turnquist of Salt Lake City and Jeanne Warner of Columbia Falls; grandchildren Peggy (Bill) Hoppe, Cathy (Chuck) Loucks, Julie (Don) Hanson and Mike Warner; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 10 a.m.
