Jangula does well in Missoula
Kyle Jangula was named field MVP for class A, B, and C schools at the Missoula Invitational Track meet last weekend. The boys team overall placed first among A schools and fourth overall.
Jangula took first place in the long jump (20-1 3/4) and second place in the triple jump (42-8).
Chase Fairbank came up huge in the high jump taking first at 6-2. While Booby Pearce tied for second with Whitefish's Colt Idol at 6-0.
Keith Catt took fourth in shot put, (49-10).
The girls had a tougher time, taking 12th overall.
Jessica Boyer was sixth in the 800 (2:31.36) and Ketti Wilhelm jumped 5-0 in the high jump to tie for third with a host of other athletes.
Amber Lampman was fifth in the long jump, (15-9 1/2) and third in the triple (33-9 1/2).
Wilhelm also tied for fourth in the pole vault (8-6).
Thomson does well in high school barrel racing
The Columbia Fall High School rodeo team members had some great finishes in the last couple of competitions.
On April 7-8 in Billings, Rachel Thomson took second in the barrel racing on the first day, with a time of 14.69, and first the second day with a 14.55. She took first in pole bending at 20.93.
The time made her first overall in barrels and second place in all around cowgirl.
On April 14-15 in Vaughn, Matt Triplett took first in bullriding, with a 70, Thomson was third in barrels with a 15.05 on the first day. On the second day, Thomson was third with a 15.15 in barrels and Shane McCaffree was fifth team roping at 8.2.
Current Montana High School Rodeo Association Season Standings: Total of 70 points possible
Barrel Racing - Thomson 4th with 66 points
Pole Bending - Thomson - 7th with 55 points
Team Roping - McCaffree - 4th with 60 points
Bull Riding- Triplett - 10th with 35.5 points.
