Grace Eisinger

Grace P. Eisinger, 82, died Aug. 28, 2006, at the Brendan House in Kalispell.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1924, the daughter of John and Pauline (Scubic) Carey, in Minneapolis, the youngest of four girls.

Grace met her future husband, Don Eisinger, during grade school, and she graduated from Wayzata High School in Minnesota.

In her early working life, Grace was employed by Ernst and Ernst Comptrollers, in Minneapolis. Don and Grace were married on Dec. 28, 1946. The young couple moved to Montana a couple of years later with their young daughter, Linda.

Grace raised her family in Whitefish. As soon as Doug started school, Grace began working for the Whitefish school system, first as an aide in Muldown Elementary, and later as librarian in the Whitefish Junior High School.

She was a Cub Scout leader, Brownie Scout leader, 4-H leader, PTA member, Whitefish Bulldog booster and concession-stand operator for the Babe Ruth baseball league. If her kids were in a club or organization, Grace was there to lead, guide and support them.

Grace was a wonderfully pleasant and intelligent person to be around. Many a cup of coffee was shared over the years with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Doug; her older sister Helen; and her mom and dad in eternal rest.

Surviving Grace was her wonderful caregiver of the last six years and husband the last 59 years, Donald Eisinger; her children Linda Payne and husband Jesse, Tom Eisinger, Carol Walker and husband Rick, and Connie Eisinger; grandchildren Christopher and Carey Cahill, and Jerred and Ricky Eisinger; great grandchild Kimberly Cahill; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters Mary Torgison and Bernice Wheeler.

"'Amazing Grace' is what some called her, we called her Mom. Today marks a new chapter in Grace's story.

Today she left the physical constraints and limitations of her earthly body and is now soaring with the angels in heaven."

Memorial services for Grace Eisinger were held Aug. 31, 2006, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
