Flag thieves

| October 25, 2006 11:00 PM

On Saturday, Oct. 14, the VFW Post 276 of Whitefish lost Old Glory, which had so proudly flown there before.

Simpletons who have not served in the Armed Forces have no concept as to why normal-minded people respect the flag and acknowledge what it stands for.

The imbeciles who removed Old Glory from the flag staff at the VFW ought to get a crash course in why the flag is very much a part of our daily lives and what it stands for.

It is my sincere hope and belief that by the successful completion of this course, the reoccurrence of such disrespectful acts will be greatly reduced and thereby enable the culprits to learn and recite the Pledge of Allegiance fluently.

Editor's note: VFW Post 276 lost two flags last year and one so far this year. Several years ago, someone climbed up on the roof of City Hall and removed an American flag. Flags cost about $75 apiece.
