Smith looks out for family

| October 18, 2006 11:00 PM

Forty years ago, a wise US Senator said, The moral test of government is how that government treats those in the dawn of life, the children; those in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those in the shadows of life - the sick, the needy and the handicapped.

With that in mind, when we look at the most recent decades of life in Montana, sadly, our beloved state has come up short. Thankfully, however, that trend has begun to turn around and today, thanks to the work of the last Legislature and our Governor, those who are the most vulnerable among us are beginning to receive the attention demanded by responsible Montanans.

To keep our state moving forward, I hope my fellow citizens of Senate District Five will take a hard look at Ric Smith, the candidate for the Montana State Senate District 5. Ric understands that supporting education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and providing much needed economic engine to propel our state into genuine prosperity.

I am convinced as these extraordinarily important issues come before the next legislature, Ric will consider them with both a level head and compassionate heart.

In short: as a father of three, we can trust Ric to adequately invest in our children. As a small business owner, we can trust Ric to ensure that our schools are financially accountable.

Ric Smith has my vote. I know he will look out for both our children and all taxpayers.

Sincerely yours,

Fr. Bradley S. Wirth
