Metals class

Rod Cogliati will be instructing a Metals course for six-weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Columbia Falls High School metals lab. The course covers basic metal work including foundry (if there is interest), proper care and use of metal working equipment, cutting torches and general basic welding skills. The course is designed for individual projects. The registration fee of $60 covers instruction, use of equipment and scrap metal.

Woodcarving class

Local woodcarver, Richard Hunt, will be instructing a six-week chip carving course starting Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the Columbia Falls High School Annex, 7-9 p.m. Registration fee of $55 includes wood and instructions for main projects. Soccer tryouts

Glacier United will have its spring select soccer tryouts Oct. 15 at the Smith Fields in Whitefish. U-11 through U-18 girls are from noon to 2:30 p.m. and U-11 through U-18 girls are from 2-4 p.m. Call 892-1323 for more information.

Trapper ed

Registration is now open for the annual Trapper Education Course, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lawrence Park in Kalispell.

Christian women

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection meets at 9:30 a.m. at Los Caporales for brunch and a blue grass program by Shirley Look. Cost is $7 per person. Free childcare provided. Call 387-4119 or 892-5990 for reservations.

Open house

Bitterroot Wireless will have its open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the former Melby's Interior Building on U.S. Highway 2 West. Snacks will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Toastmasters

The Columbia Falls Toastmasters meet Oct. 17 from noon-1 p.m. The group meets at the Columbia Falls City Hall in the council chambers. A soup and bread lunch will be provided. Contact Kristi Hatfield 892-2868 for more information.

Stamp club

The Glacier Stamp Club will hold their annual stamp show on Oct. 21 and Sunday Oct. 22 at the Museum at Central School. The show, which is open to the public from 10 to 4 p.m. each day, will feature exhibits and dealers.

Quilters meet

Columbia Falls Teakettle Quilt Guild will meet at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Community Center on Nucleus Avenue. Bring your sewing machines and quilting tools. They will be making blocks. Guests and new members are welcome.
