Sullivan has ideas for justice court

| May 24, 2006 11:00 PM

As Flathead County residents go to the polls for the June 6 primary, I encourage each one to vote for Mark Sullivan for Justice of the Peace.

Mark is a man of high personal integrity and commitment to public service with the training and background needed to best serve the citizens of our valley. The job of Justice of the Peace is complex and impacts many Montanans. Most of us who will ever need the judicial system, will be served by a court of limited jurisdiction.

We need both the knowledge and experience Mark brings to this job as well as his compassion and understanding for the complex issues the court faces.

I appreciate his thoughtful consideration of the issues of chemical addiction and his suggestions for "treatment court" as an answer to high recidivism. Also, Mark has shared his interest in looking into establishing a night court for the Flathead Justice Court. This allows individuals to take care of business with the court without the additional burden of missing work.

Mark Sullivan's busy job currently has him in the courtroom an average of three days each week. That's the kind of current experience we need to serve Flathead County. Vote for Mark Sullivan as our next Justice of the Peace, Court Two.
