Paying homage

Kind words do not cost much. They never blister the tongue or lips. Mental trouble was never known to arise from such quarters. Though they do not cost much yet they accomplish much. They make other people good natured. They also produce their own image on men's souls, and a beautiful image it is.

—Blaise Pascal

Guy Laurendeau was a Bigfork icon. During a memorial for Guy Sunday, an immense crowd gathered at Flathead Lake Lodge to celebrate his life and share stories of his notoriety.

Intertwined in every story told was one perfect truth—Guy was, above all things, a good man.

Ode to a good man

(To Guy from one of his "Sweethearts")

Momma always used to say

"A good man is hard to find."

But in Bigfork there was he

Of good heart, soul and mind.

A gentleman, a charmer,

An unabashed flirt

He had the sweetest nature

For anything in a skirt.

He had a twinkle in his eye

And the world in his heart

His generosity of spirit

He strived to impart.

A mentor, a friend,

He was definitely 'The Man'

He stole away your heart

with a kiss of your hand.

Award-winning cook,

his chili was supreme.

Even without beans,

Every bite was a dream.

A beautiful gift

Was the span of his life

And to God we give thanks

For Guy and his wife.

We love you Guy and Toni.
