Robert Kobbervig

Robert J. "Bob" Kobbervig, 71, passed away April 27, 2006, at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish.

Bob was born Sept. 28, 1934, in Dodgeville. Wis., to Robert and Lucille Dyer Kobbervig. He was raised in Dodgeville and attended schools there, graduating from Dodgeville High School.

At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on two carriers, the USS FD Roosevelt, and the USS Antietam. He served in the Mediterranean Sea. He was discharged from the Navy at the age of 20.

Bob worked several jobs during his lifetime, including running the export division for the Admiral Corporation for six years. He worked as the grounds manager for the P.K. Wrigley Estate in Lake Geneva, Wis. — the owners of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Gum.

He moved to the Flathead Valley, where he managed the Moose Lodge in Whitefish for six years. Bob also tended bar in various places and attempted to build pre-fab cedar homes. He finished his career at Semitool.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Antietam Association. He loved nature, enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid reader.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Kobbervig; a sister, Beverly Severson; his wife Donna; and grandsons Michael Hogan and Jamie Karcher.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Hogan, of Fontana, Wis., and Leonard Hogan and his wife, Carol, of Kalispell; and two daughters, Sheila Hogan, of Kalispell, and Valerie Rowland and her husband, Dennis.

Memorial services were held May 6, 2006, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Bartholomew officiating. Urn burial was at Glacier Memorial Gardens. The United Veterans of the Flathead Valley conducted the military honors. A reception took place afterwards at the Moose Lodge in Whitefish.
