Uniting for sight

| May 3, 2006 11:00 PM

I am Claire Anderson, a long-time resident of Whitefish and currently a senior at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt. I graduate this May and plan on attending medical school to pursue a career as an ophthalmologist.

I have been accepted to volunteer this summer with Unite for Sight, a non-profit organization that empowers communities worldwide to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness.

From June 15 to July 15, I will travel to Bhubaneswar, India, to be part of a volunteer team and will work with partner eye clinics to provide eye care and eye health education programs to this medically underserved community. I am writing this letter on behalf of Unite for Sight requesting your support in the form of a tax-deductible donation.

Unite for Sight funds surgeries for patients unable to afford eye care. The partnership between Unite for Sight volunteers and eye clinics works to reduce the financial, transportation and education barriers to eye care. Unite for Sight's model also reduces costs and expands the ability of all people to "Unite for Sight" and help in the fight against blindness.

I am asking you to help us out by giving a tax-deductible donation to Unite for Sight. Just one donation of $50 is enough to restore someone's eye sight.

If you require additional information about Unite for Sight, please contact me at cjanders@middlebury.edu and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

You may also visit www.uniteforsight.org online or contact them directly via e-mail at JStaple@uniteforsight.org. Online donations are preferred and can be given by going to http://www.uniteforsight.org/intl_volunteer/pages/index.php?name=Claire+Anderson.

The money needs to be raised by June 10, so please return any donation by May 26. Thank you for your consideration. Unite for Sight could not continue providing healthcare without the generosity of donors like yourself.
