Teen talk

Dr. Kristin Veneman, pediatrician, is presenting a free community education program on the topic of Teen Health Issues in North Valley Hospital's Glacier Room on Thursday (today), March 16, at 7 p.m. Parents and teens are invited to attend; refreshments will be served. Dem women

Region I of the Montana Democratic Women will meet on Saturday, March 25 at the WestCoast Hotel in the Kalispell Center Mall. The business meeting will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Montana State Representative Jeanne Windham from Lake County will be the speaker. Reservations may be made by calling Karen Richardson at 857-3381.

Flathead Coalition

The Flathead Coalition will hold its annual meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. March 22 at the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks building in Kalispell. The Coalition is a group of scientists and locals concerned about energy development and other issues in the transboundary Flathead.

Eagles chowder

The North Valley Eagles is having a clam chowder cook-off at 4 p.m. May 12. There will be prizes, call 892-4081 for more information.

Toastmasters

Columbia Falls Toastmasters meet at noon March 20 at City Hall. The public is invited to attend. Call Kristi Hatfield at 892-2868 or Roger Newman at 892-3113 for more information.

Cat tracks

Columbia Falls youth track for students in grades one through six will have signups March 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is an independent program run by a Wildcat track club. This program was created to interest younger kids in track, and teach some preliminary skills.

Wrestling tourney

Columbia Falls Little Guy wrestling will host the Western Montana Little Guy Wrestling Championships at the high school all day March 25. Hundreds of wrestlers are expected to participate.

Big bands

A Big Band Matinee featuring music of the past is March 19, at the Kalispell Eagles Club, from 4 until 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. It's sponsored by the Flathead Valley Jazz Society.

The Columbians, Columbia Falls High School jazz band directed by Karen Ulmer, and the Don Lawrence Orchestra will play. This is a benefit to help send The Columbians to New York City, May 18 to perform at the Essentially Ellington Festival at Lincoln Center. Admission is $5 per person.

Canyon officers

Canyon Community Church, Coram, officers have been elected. New board members are John Gillespie, Ernie Lommatsch, Joe Rogers and Paul Snyder. Incumbent members are Eleanor Franklin and Jim Sutherland. Iola Breneman is church secretary with Beverly Cothran, treasurer. Yvonne Floyd is pianist.

Service schedule has Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. followed by worship at 11 a.m. Evening services are at 6 p.m., Sundays, and 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
