Rose Schroeder
Rose M. Schroeder, 89 passed away March 5, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born 12 miles north of Glen Ulllin in Mercer County, N.D., on Aug. 23, 1916, to Henry and Dorothea (Mormon) Holler.
She was baptized in St. Clemen's Church at Haymarsh, N.D. In 1919, the family moved to a new home, six miles north of Glen Ullin. Rose attended St. Clemen's School and graduated from the eighth grade. The family then moved in 1936 to Grassy Butte and in 1938 to a home five miles east of Grassy Butte.
Rose worked at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1937 to 1938. In 1942, she worked for Adolph Ruffler, and while there met the love of her life, John Schroeder, who was a fellow employee. They were married in June 1943. During the early years of their marriage, they were employed by Tony Zurn and Roy Lillibridge until 1949.
It was in 1949 that they moved to their home on Highway 40 between Columbia Falls, and Whitefish. Rose and John had two children, Alvin and Marlene. Later in 1971, they moved to Kalispell, then to Marion, where they lived on their son's farm, and then back to Kalispell, where they lived in the Two Mile Drive Apartments.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years; her parents; brothers Albert, Leo and Andrew; sisters Philomena and Annie; son-in-law Cliff Struck; and twin granddaughters Shirley and Angie.
She is survived by her son, Alvin Schroeder and wife Marian and grandson Jared, of Kalispell; daughter Marlene Struck and granddaughter Shelley, of Kalispell; brother Clem Holler, of Great Falls; sister Mary Hecker, of Butte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place March 8, 2006, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Peter Ramseth officiating. Burial followed in the Glacier Memorial Gardens.
