Public lands up for grabs

| March 8, 2006 11:00 PM

Well, it's official. President Bush plans on selling off our forests to raise money for our schools and other programs he has cut the budgets on so he can give even more tax reductions to his already fabulously wealthy cronies.

His plan is not only very short-sighted but proves the point I've been making all along. Our public lands are all up for private grab except those with an "official wilderness designation" that is created by an act of Congress and can't be changed with the stroke of a pen.

An "official wilderness designation" means saving some land for us to hike, hunt, camp and pick huckleberries forever. It's the only way.
