Whitefish basketball head coach resigns

| June 28, 2006 11:00 PM

Derek Schulz has resigned from his position as head coach of the Whitefish High School boys basketball team.

Schulz served in the basketball program for 14 years, and has been the head coach for three seasons.

This year, the Bulldogs had their best season under Schulz, going 10-13 and making it within one game of the state tournament, losing to Polson in the consolation finals at the divisional tournament.

Schulz, who is a teacher at Whitefish High School and head coach of the boys and girls track teams, will continue with those duties.

Both the boys and the girls basketball programs need head coaches for the 2006-2007 season. Girls head coach Dean McFadden resigned following the completion of the basketball season.
