A trolley for WF

| July 26, 2006 11:00 PM

Last week, I read that "too much attention is paid to the existing attractions of the Whitefish area." And before I could finish reading John Baker's dull suggestion, I had completed my antithesis

Move! As if, some rube is going to go on a pilgrimage to see a giant monument of a skier set upon a hill. The real outcome more likely be vandalism and stainless steel, 12 gauge pumps dusting our hero with bird shot.

Then it hit me like an Israeli shell. A cable car stretching from the Lodge at Whitefish Lake to Big Mountain Village with an adjoining Ptarmigan Village expansion project. Couple it with two trolleys orbiting downtown (include a few strategic areas) and you have a blockbuster.

This "not so dull" idea is really beginning to shine. Switzerland already has the Grindelwald-Mannlichen Gondola Cableway that stretches 6.4 km, the longest in the world.

And I propose the teeth of eminent domain be as sharp as chainsaws used by loggers to clear the way.

I pledge building a monument in honor of John Baker if the project ever gets started. Of course, it will melt by summer.
