A community treasure

Sliter's Park is a treasure of Bigfork. We are blessed to have such a family-friendly refuge right in the middle of our town, and we appreciate the valuable time, effort and resources of all those responsible for the upgrades that have made it a haven in Bigfork. Thank you!

So many people I know are frustrated and appalled by the comments in a recent article that bashed Sliter's as being unsafe, unappealing, and as not catering to young children. The article was an obvious effort to raise money and awareness for a competing playground project.

Anybody who spends time at Sliter's knows that it is a wonderful family park that is very well-used by children of all ages. And it is an important part of the history of Bigfork.

My children ask to stop in every time we drive by. And when we do, we are always met by other friendly faces on the playground. Of the many parks and playgrounds in Bigfork, most of which are under-utilized, Sliter's certainly has the most appeal for families and children of all ages.

If anybody needs convincing, visit Sliter's on a Thursday after Puppets in the Park around 2:00 and see how many parents and their children are swarming the playground. You will see what a fun, safe, appealing park it really is.
