Alfred Holden

Alfred "Bud" Clair Holden, 86, passed away Feb. 4, 2006, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 7, 1919, in Williston, N.D., to Alfred and Olga (Overby) Holden. Bud came to Kalispell with his parents in the early 1920s. He graduated from Flathead County School in 1937. He worked as a paper boy, a service station attendant and a saw filer at Kalispell Lumber Co.

Bud married Dorothy Fuglestad on Jan. 1, 1939, in Missoula.

He built a home in East Evergreen in the early 1950s, and while living in Evergreen worked as a salesman and a manager at Studebaker Garage. Just before moving from their home in Evergreen, he became a piano tuner.

After the 1964 Flood, they moved to a small ranch on the Whitefish River at Birch Grove, where he built a new home and fixed up the ranch. In 1971, they moved to Lake Blaine, where he again built a new home and lived there until 2004. His wife moved into Heritage Place, and he moved into Prestige Assisted Living, where he lived until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Holden; one brother, Louis Holden; and one son, Dennis Holden.

Bud is survived by his wife, Dorothy Holden, of Kalispell; one son, Ron Holden, of Trego; one brother, Norman Holden, of Central Point, Ore.; and seven grandchildren; and a nephew, Willis Randall, and his wife Avis, of Arvada, Colo.

Funeral services for Alfred "Bud" Clair Holden took place Feb. 10, 2006, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with burial afterward at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
