Scouts busy in 2005
Whitefish Boy Scout Troop 17 had another busy and successful year in 2005, highlighted by two members (Daniel Reimer and Evan Tice) receiving their Eagle Scout awards.
Living up to its motto "Where theory ends and reality begins," the troop continued with their monthly campouts in all weathers — for many boys, the winter campouts are their favorites.
A group of older scouts and adults took a week-long trek through the Beartooth Mountains in the summer; other scouts enjoyed a week-long summer camp, where the troop was recognized with a special award for citizenship, and two boys tied the previous camp record for merit badges earned in a week.
Troop 17 believes in returning more to the community than it receives, and its members spend many hours, both collectively and individually, in performing community service.
2006 is shaping up to be another great year for Troop 17. If you are interested in finding out more, contact Scoutmaster Joe Coco at 862-2288, or visit us one Tuesday evening at the Whitefish Church of the Nazarene.
