Kathleen Rose

Beloved wife and mother, Kathleen Rose, of Rifle, Colo., went home to her Lord and Savior on Jan. 24, 2006, surrounded by friends and her loving family.

She was born March 21, 1930, to Harley and Marie (Kees) Houchin in Akron, Ohio. Kathleen lived in Akron until 1965, when she moved to Massillon, where she became a Tigers football fan. In 1993, she and her husband moved to Colorado to be closer to family.

Kathleen married Dwain Rose on Oct. 11, 1947, in Akron, Ohio.

Caddie attended Central High School in Akron, Ohio and Akron Nursing School where she became an LPN. She was a devoted nurse at Massillon City Hospital for 10 years.

She was a remarkable woman who enjoyed scuba diving, snow skiing, slalom waterskiing and family vacations in Pointe au Baril, Ontario, with good friends. She loved to read and cook and was always singing. Kathleen knew the lyrics to many popular songs of her day and shared her joy with everyone she knew.

Caddie and Dwain were active in the Goodyear Boating and Yachting Association for several years before leaving Ohio. Kathleen was a member of the Church of the Valley, in Silt, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Moriah Moen.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Dwain; son Larry Rose and fiance Bethany, of Silt; daughters Gail Schoeppner and husband Paul, of Silt, and Brenda Moen and husband Marc, of Whitefish; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Rifle Funeral Home in Rifle, Colo., on Jan. 28, with Reverend Jim Warn officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Rifle.
