Flint party

There is a Boy Scout retirement party for Fred Flint, Friday, Aug. 25 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Marantette Park. Troop 1941 will honor Scoutmaster Fred Flint for his 18 years of outstanding service and commitment to our boys and the community. Stamp club

The Glacier Stamp Club will meet Monday Sept. 11 in the basement meeting room of the Flathead County Library in Kalispell. Review APS circuits and exchange at 7 p.m. with the regular business meeting at 7:30. A member auction will follow. Friends and visitors are welcome. For more information call Gail Long 752-6110.

Free meals

Columbia Falls Community Kitchen, a nonprofit, nondenominational community organization, will be serving free meals beginning Aug. 28, through Thursday, Aug. 31, in the basement of St. Richard's Catholic Church at 6 p.m. Please join us for a delicious, hot meal.

Drivers Ed

Drivers education classes start Sept. 13 at the high school. Cost is $190 and signups are available at the school or by calling 892-6501. Students must be 14 1/2 years old.

Toastmasters

Columbia Falls Speaks Toastmasters meeting will be Tuesday Sept. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Columbia Falls City Hall in the council chambers. Come and see what Toastmasters is all about.

Crisis line

Volunteers are sought to help man the violence free crisis hotline. Calls can be taken from the comfort of your own phone. Full training is provided. Call 752-4753 for information.

Impact fee

Flathead County is looking for folks interested in sitting on an impact fee committee to help devise an impact fee ordinance. Residents must reside in Flathead County. Per statute, one member must be a certified public accountant and another a member of the development sector. Write the Planning Department at 1035 First Ave. West, Kalispell, MT 59901 by Sept. 1.

Frosh orientation

Columbia Falls High School freshmen and new student orientation and open house for grades 10, 11 and 12 is Monday, Aug. 28 at the high school from 6 to 9 p.m. Students pick up class schedules in the gym foyer from 6 to 6:15 p.m. and then will meet in the gym for an introduction. Folks then have a walk-through of the student's schedule.

School starts

Columbia Falls schools start classes Wednesday, Aug. 30. Folks are reminded it's an early out day, so classes end an hour early.
