Thanks to Stoltze

First, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Stoltze Land and Lumber Co. for continuing their generous policy of allowing public use and access to their lands. Without use of these lands, the activities of local hunters, hikers, bikers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and dog mushers would be severely limited.

Access to these unspoiled areas is a privilege, not a right. If necessary, Stoltze can choose to revoke this privilege at any time.

We have run our sled dogs on these trails for years and have enjoyed sharing them with other winter activity enthusiasts.

Recently, however, we have found it necessary to pick up paper, broken beer bottles and other trash. Signs and gates are also vandalized, leaving the cost of replacement and repair to the very people who are allowing the public to use their land.

It would be easy to lay blame on any one group — underage drinkers, etc. But only those who commit these offenses know who they are and are capable of changing their behavior.

If you are a user of Stoltze land, please treat it as if it were your own. Please pick up after those whose ignorance jeopardizes access to these areas. Take time to write a note of thanks to Stoltze. The access you save may be your own.
