Barry Domph,

Barry Steven Domph, 62, died of a heart attack April 29, 2005, in Helena.

Barry was born in New York City on May 24, 1942, to Solomon and Rose Katz Domph. His family moved to southern California when Barry was 15 years old, where he graduated from high school and attended Pierce College.

There he met his beloved wife of 35 years, Melody English. They were married Dec. 13, 1969, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Barry worked as a stock broker and an industrial real estate broker.

In 1975, they moved to Columbia Falls. Barry was a cowboy at heart and loved Montana. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and hunting.

He was a man of many talents. He pursued numerous occupations, including training show horses and stock brokering. He was a Farmers Insurance agent for many years and owned a heating and air conditioning business. Additionally, he was a substitute teacher at schools throughout the valley. His favorite job, however, was caring for his family.

In 1979, his family began to grow with the addition of daughter Megan followed by Brian, Mallory and Keely over the next six years. Barry was a dedicated father, running his business from a home office so that he could be involved in his children's daily activities. These were joyful years for him, and he truly was "the best Papa." The Domph house was a place where young people gathered, and everyone felt accepted and loved in Barry's presence.

At an age when most people are thinking about retirement, Barry's life took an unexpected turn August 2001 with the tragic death of oldest daughter Megan. She left behind three infant daughters. Barry and Melody adopted their granddaughters to raise as their own. A job that would normally be extremely difficult was made easier because of Barry's patience, understanding, wisdom and sense of humor.

Barry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1976. He served in various callings of the church. His favorite positions were working with the youth and teaching adult Sunday school.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sheila Morris, and cherished daughter Megan.

He is survived by his wife and eternal companion Melody; son Brian Domph and his wife Samantha, of Roosevelt, Utah; daughters Mallory, Keely, Stevie, Rylee and Maycee Domph, all at the family home. Barry is loved and will be deeply missed by a large extended family of in-laws.

Funeral services were held May 4, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Columbia Falls.

Mary Ambrogini

Mary Elizabeth Ambrogini 84, a longtime Essex resident, passed away of natural causes April 27, 2005, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Whitefish.

She was born in Marshall County, S.D., and came to Montana with her parents. She attended schools in Essex and East Glacier and attended and graduated from Whitefish High School in 1938. She met and married Melvin Virgil Ambrogini in 1939 at Whitefish. Melvin passed away in 1984.

Mary had been a school bus driver and a substitute teacher in Essex, worked for Shamrock Gas Co. when they put a gas line through the area, and was a cook and waitress at Denny's Underpass Inn in Essex.

Mary had been a 4H leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a staunch supporter of the Middle Fork fire department and Quick Response Unit, and a PTA president. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and needle crafts at her church, and she helped missionaries prepare for Bible camp and schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, her parents, a brother and a granddaughter.

She is survived by daughters Jewel King and husband Frank, in Great Falls, and Carol Ambrogini and Thelma Fox in Essex; son James Ambrogini and wife Evelyn, in Sedro Woolley, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and seven step grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and a niece in Great Falls.

Funeral services took place May 4, 2005, and burial followed at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Middle Fork Quick Response Unit.

James Drace

James Arthur Drace, 79, passed away May 1, 2005, at his home near Columbia Falls surrounded by his loving wife, Alberta, and his children.

He was born Aug. 17, 2005, in Stanley, Wis., to Arthur and Lillian Drace.

Jim served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He met Arlys Basacker in Oakland, Calif. They were married in 1948. Arlys passed away in 1999.

Jim worked for Butler Manufacturing in San Pablo, Calif., for many years. He retired from there and moved to Montana in 1972. He went to work for Plum Creek and retired from there in 1992.

He met Alberta Woods, an old friend, again in 1999, and they were married in September 1999.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, huckleberry picking and especially ice fishing on Bitterroot Lake in the winter.

Jim is survived by his wife, Alberta, at the family home; his daughters Susan Keller, of Columbia Falls, and Virginia (Gerald) Madill, of Libby; a son, James (Crickett) Drace, of Shelby, Montana; three stepsons, Brian (Sue) Basacker, Rick (Teressa) Basacker and Tom (Sue) Basacker, all of California; six grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorials be made to the Home Options Hospice in Kalispell in Jim's name.

Richard Role

Richard William Role, 65, a longtime Columbia Falls resident, passed away May 1, 2005, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Kalispell, to Howard and Ethel Role. He attended school in Canyon View and then graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1959. He was in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963.

He married Jimme Sue Connole in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 22, 1964.

Dick worked at F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber Co. and then Plum Creek Manufacturing for 37 years. He retired in April 2002.

Dick loved all sports and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He especially loved hunting trips with his sons, Mark and Bill, and his nephew Shawn. He also loved watching his grand children in all sports, especially swim team.

Dick was known for his annual Easter egg hunts. He loved his family and friends but wouldn't hesitate to help a stranger off the street. He was very social and loved his "get-togethers" at the land.

"Dad, we will always have a special place in our hearts for you, and we will cherish all the memories. You are gone, but never forgotten."

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Howard; two sisters, Nancy and Rose; and his grandparents.

Dick is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jimme Sue; daughter Pam; sons Bill and Mark (Kim), all of Columbia Falls; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter, Tianna, Kyler, Kortney, Garrett and Richard James; one sister, Barbara Ann Hennessey, of Whitefish; brothers Ron (Lucille), of Columbia Falls, and Howard (Denise) and Jack (Vonzel), of Spokane, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Columbia Mortuary. Funeral services will take place Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Richard's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
