Respect

In the week following Memorial weekend our papers showed more sports of different kinds on the front pages than what they should have. Have we forgotten why we have holidays such as Memorial Day and the 4th of July to name a couple?

When we have parades, what and who leads them? If you are paying attention, it is the flag we are all behind and proud of. Carried by veterans who have defended the flag and our country, allowing people and their families to work, worship and play without being oppressed.

Jason Varner, past commander of Post 4042, said it best, read his letter and remember those men and women who have served our country. Remember the flag of our country and honor it. Let us not forget why we are the greatest nation on the earth. When the flag of our country passes by you take off your cap, etc., and salute if you are a past veteran. Our papers and media should show respect for our country, not racecars and drivers, or kayakers, etc. Remember the reasons.
