Prospectors meet

The Northwest Montana Gold Prospectors meet Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. in the North Valley Community Center in Columbia Falls.

Wings radiothon

The annual Wings radiothon, which raises funds for cancer victims to help defray costs not covered by medical insurance, will take place Jan. 20 and Jan. 21. It will be broadcast for Sportsman Ski Haus in Kalispell and will be heard live on the Bee Broadcasting network. To donate, send items to Wings, P.O. Box 7852, Kalispell MT 59904.

Sign language

Summit Independent Living Center, a non-profit agency advocating for people with disabilities, is offering a sign language class for those interested in learning American Sign Language. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for eight weeks beginning Jan. 11. Cost is $25. Call 257-0048 for more information.

Chamber lunch

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon will take place Tuesday, Jan. 11 at noon at the North Valley Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue. No reservations required and lunch is available for $8. Guest speaker is City Manager Bill Shaw and Mayor Susan Nicosia.

Horsemen meet

The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Building, located at 490 North Meridian Road (across from the Fairgrounds). The meeting is open to the general public and all are welcome.

RAC opening

The Flathead County Resource Advisory Committee has an opening for a replacement member representing a nationally, regionally or locally recognized environmental organization or archaeological and historical interests. Applications must be submitted to the Flathead National Forest Supervisor's Office by Jan. 7. Applications are available from the Flathead National Forest Supervisor's Office and on the Internet at www.fs.fed.us/r1/flathead.

Economic forecast

The annual economic forecast meeting hosted by Jobs Now and the valley's chambers of commerce is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the West Coast Hotel at the Kalispell Center Mall.

Cheff promoted

Jenni Cheff was recently promoted to assistant vice president for Glacier Bank, Columbia Falls. Cheff has a bachelor's degree in finance, with a minor in accounting, from Montana State University, with eight years banking and finance experience, including more than four years at Glacier Bank. She specializes in consumer and real estate loans.

Cheff was born and raised in Great Falls and moved to Columbia Falls in 2000. She is married to Justin Cheff and has a one-year-old son Connor.

She is also a Columbia Falls Chamber ambassador and secretary/treasurer of the Columbia Falls Chamber Foundation.
