Student of the week

Devon Hagen, a senior at Columbia Falls High School, is student of the week of Feb. 21. He was nominated because he is an outstanding artist and student willing to try anything to expand his knowledge and awareness in art. He is also very involved in his community, volunteering as a firefighter. He is a pleasure to have in class. Devon is the son of Rick and Lisa Hagen, of Columbia Falls, and receives a personal pan pizza compliment of Pizza Hut.

Free meals

Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will be serving free meals at 6 p.m. at St. Richard's Catholic Church starting Friday, Feb. 25, through Monday, Feb. 28. Everyone is welcome.

NVH fundraiser

North Valley Hospital Foundation will have its "Golf Ball" (black tie optional) March 3 at the Whitefish Lake Restaurant in Whitefish. No-host cocktails will begin at 6 p.m., with music by harpist, Katy Meyers. Tickets are $100 per person and are available at the Whitefish Lake Restaurant and the Foundation office, 863-3630.

Close-up auction

The Columbia Falls annual Close Up auction will take place at the Blue Moon Nite Club on March 4, at 6 p.m. View items at 5 p.m. Items include donations from Plum Creek, Western Building Center, Army Navy, etc.

Softball meets

Columbia Falls Youth Softball will have its season-beginning meeting Feb. 27 at 5 p.m., location to be determined. Anyone interested should call 892-1162 or 892-1378 and ask for Kathy.

Baseball sign-ups

Columbia Falls baseball will have its annual registration for youngsters ages 5 through 19 at Glacier Gateway School on March 2 and March 9 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day.

Chamber meets

Columbia Falls Chamber meets at noon March 8 at the community center. Guest speaker will be Flathead County Commissioner Gary Hall.

Thomasma speaks

Children's author Ken Thomasma will speak at Ruder Elementary at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday).

Community Choir

The Columbia Falls Community Choir will have its annual concert at 7 p.m. March 12 at the High School Little Theater featuring a host of different musical numbers. The concert is free and open to the public, as are refreshments after the performance.

Deer Park baseball

Deer Park baseball sign-ups are now taking place for boys and girls, ages 5-12. Fees are $30 for the first child and $25 for each sibling that also signs on. Scholarships are available. If interested, contact Mary Lance at 892-1810 or e-mail marricl@centurytel.net.
