The stalest sandwich on Earth

Bud Ward only ate half his lunch 55 years ago.
He's been saving the other half since. Sure, the bread is a little dry. Sure, the turkey is a little past its prime. Sure, the lettuce is a bit wilted.
But it's still a sandwich and, no, it isn't moldy or smelly.
It just looks old and dry. Really dry. Worse than your aunt's-Thanksgiving-stuffing dry.
Ward, back in 1948, was working for the Montana Highway Patrol in the Canyon. Those days were rough and tumble. The Hungry Horse Dam was being built.
"There were 2,000 guys and 1,800 of them were drunk," he recalled last week.
Needless to say, Ward was busy.
So one day just before Christmas, Thelma and Todd McGregor, of the West Glacier Cafe, made him a turkey sandwich for lunch.
Ward got a call and never finished the sandwich. Forgot all about. But the McGregors took the sandwich, put it in a box and wrapped it up as a Christmas gift. They gave to Ward as a present-a joke.
The joke has since lasted 55 years. See, Ward gave it back to the McGregor's in following years and the McGregor's have since given it back to him. The gag has yet to die, or mold, or get eaten by mice.
