Assisting animals

| December 22, 2005 11:00 PM

Thank you to all those involved with the Whitefish Community Foundation. Your generosity and dedication has helped our community in countless ways through your support of many worthy non-profit organizations.

The Flathead Spay and Neuter Task Force is grateful to be one of the Foundation's recipients. You are helping us provide low-cost surgeries to low-income families, thereby reducing the number of healthy, loveable dogs and cats that must be euthanized at our county shelter because there are not enough homes for all the unwanted and abandoned animals.

Task Force volunteers quickly discover that the service we provide is not just about helping animals; it is a tremendous support to people who want to be responsible pet owners but their financial limitations stand in the way.

For example, one dear old gentleman who had many cats "dumped" on his property was thrilled when he found us, brought us 14 cats to alter, and paid us with three dozen eggs.

In less than four years, we have altered more than 6,500 dogs and cats for people whose income level made spaying or neutering their animals an impossibility. Thank you for assisting us in helping people in need and the animals they love.
