CASA volunteers

Speak up for abused and neglected children in court by becoming a CASA volunteer. For an application, or to find out more information, call CASA for Kids, 755-7208. Applications are needed by Sept. 20 to qualify you for our fall training.

Chamber BBQ, golf

The Chamber BBQ and Golf Scramble is Sept. 11 in West Glacier at the Glacier View Golf Course. At 2 p.m. is the golf scramble. Anyone can play. Cost is $12 per person. Horsemen meet

The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m., at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Building, located at 490 North Meridian Road (across from the Fairgrounds). The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome.

Cloggers

The Kalispell Country Cloggers dance classes meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Eagles Club in Kalispell. A new session for beginners starts Oct. 4. Call Carla at 752-7919 or Linda at 892-3466.

Gaiser wins

Columbia Falls High School Assistant Principal Scott Gaiser won the Whitefish triathlon as the overall fastest man Aug. 21. Gaiser had a time of 1:04:42. Gaiser has been competing in triathlons for years, including Iron Man events.

Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce has its first meeting of the fall at 11:30 a.m. at the North Valley Community Building Sept. 13. Come and meet the new teachers at School District 6. Lunch is $8, includes tip.

Antique engines

The annual antique engine and tractor show and threshing bee is Sept. 10 and 11 at Olsen Pioneer Park off Pioneer Road.

Blood drive

The American Red Cross will be holding blood drives this month. Participating in one drive is Lyle Mitchell of State Farm Insurance. Drives are Sept. 6 and Sept. 7. Call 1-800-695-7258 to schedule an appointment.
