Tanya McCully, of Whitefish, got a hole-in-one on the 100-yard third hole at Par 3 on 93 0n Aug. 13. It was witnessed by Jim McCully. This may be the last hole-in-one at Par 3 on 93. Golfers have through Aug. 21 to try to be the last person to get an ace there.
The Whitefish Lake Triathalon will take place Sunday, Aug. 21, with a half-mile swim starting at City Beach., a scenic 20-kilometer bike ride and a five-kilometer run. A pre-race meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. at City Beach. Registration can be done ahead of time with the Kalispell Athletic Club. Cost is $38 solo or $96 per team, which includes a T-shirt, all-you-can-eat burgers and beverages and more than $1,000 in prizes. The fourth annual Whitefish Lake Swim takes place Sunday, Aug. 28. The race will start and finish at Whitefish City Beach. There will be a one-mile swim for ages 18 and over and a half-mile swim for ages 17 and under. Forty-one swimmers took part last year, ages 13 to 71, with half of them over 40 years old and more than half women. Water temperature this time of year averages 60 to 65 degrees. Organizers belong to a group who regularly train in lakes across the Flathead. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and race time is 9:15 a.m. There will be prize money and raffle prizes. The third annual Whitefish Friends and Family Run/Walk will take place Saturday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. beginning at the North Valley Professional Center on 13th St. Entry fees are $15 pre-registered, $20 day of the race, $25 for families up to four members, and $10 for seniors. The event is sponsored by Whitefish Physical Therapy and Sports Rehab and North Valley Hospital. All proceeds go to the Child Development Center in Kalispell. For more information, call 862-9378.
A soccer tournament for boys and girls in U-11 through U-18 will be held Aug. 26-27 at the Kalispell fields. The tournament will be a double-elimination, eight-on-eight, king-of-the-mountain competition with two 25-minute halves. The Big Mountain Hill Climb up the Danny On Trail will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27, and will benefit the Glacier Nordic Ski Team. Registration will be from 8 to 8:45 a.m. outside the Hellroaring Chalet and the race will begin at 9 a.m. People are invited to run, walk or hike the trail. A Whitefish cheerleading camp will be held at the Muldown Elementary School gymnasium on Aug. 23-25 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages five to 12. Cost is $35. Join in the fun with Whitefish High School cheerleading coaches and cheerleaders and learn about this classic activity. Runnin Rascals is a non-competitive introduction to football for boys and girls ages 4-6 yrs. Games will be once a week on Saturdays and are played for fun and instructional purposes only. There are no other practices scheduled. Each game day will have two parts, an instruction/practice period and a scrimmage period. Registration deadline is Friday, August 26.
