Boys track team takes first at Libby Invite

The Columbia Falls boys track team took first at the Libby Invitational last week, led by Kyle Rosenbaum, who took first in the triple jump, second in the long jump and sixth in the javelin.

The team scored 111 points, edging Libby, which had 81, followed by Whitefish with 73.

The girls came in third with 73 points.

Rosenbaum's triple jump was 42-3 1/4, his long jump was 19-3 and his javelin throw was 153-5.

The boys also took first in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:37.55 (Devin Schmit, Kallen Bodily, Tom McNulty and Tanner Hatch.) They also took second in the 400 relay with a time of 46.65.

Other placers were Bodily, who was second in the 400 and fifth in the 800. Kevin Boyer took second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-5 1/2. Jeremiah Fauske was second in the high jump at 5-8.

Dan Byrd was second in the pole vault at 11-0. Steffen Anderson also nailed 11-0, and Jace Ladenburg was third in the discus at 140-9 1/2. McNulty was also third in the 200 and fifth in the 400 with times of 24.75 and 54.12.

Schmit took first in the 400 with a time of 51.47, and Bodily was second at 52.34.

"It was a pretty good weekend," said boys coach Mark Beckwith. "Rosenbaum improves a little each week."

Rosenbaum started the season with a pulled hamstring, which kept him out of the first few meets.

Beckwith was also impressed with McNulty.

"Tommy had a great day," he said.

On the girls side, Kim Pearce took first in the high jump at 5-2, Danielle Vokonich won the 400 with a time of 1:05.97, Jessica Boyer took second in the 1,600 and third in the 800 with times of 5:42.16 and 2:32.25, and Jylisa Fields was third in the long jump at 14-11.5,

Lindsey Thueson was fourth in the 300, Shanelle Swift was fourth in the high jump, and the team took fourth in the 400 relay.

The girls were without Bekah Stoltz, who had a slight quad muscle pull. Stoltz has been leading the girls team in the shot put, discus and javelin.

Girls coach Wes Knutson said Cassie Stoneman also had a minor injury and did not compete.

He said this year's track team is a little like the wrestling team -the girls probably won't all be healthy until the end of season.

The teams travel to Whitefish this weekend.

Stoltz did well at the Top Ten Meet in Missoula Tuesday, throwing the shot put 37-9 for a first and the discus 141-10 for a personal best and a first.

She also took third in the javelin. Rosenbaum took second in the triple jump.

Kim Pearce tied for fourth in the high jump.
