Stoltz leads girls at Missoula meet
In a crowded field of athletes, Bekah Stoltz stood out in Missoula last weekend, taking first in discus and shot put and fourth in the javelin at the Missoula Invitational.
The girls team took 10th overall, and the boys team was 14th. The meet pits AA, A, B and C schools from Montana and Idaho against each other, so just placing in an event is a pretty good accomplishment.
Stoltz had a throw of 38-6 in the shot put, 131-10 in the discus and 111-8 in the javelin.
"Bekah had a great weekend," said coach Wes Knutson. "That was her best shot throw of the year."
Also placing for the girls was Cassie Stoneman, who took fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 32-11. Jessica Boyer was eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:39.50.
Boyer's performance pleased Knutson.
"She placed in a real tough field," Knutson said.
The team as a whole has some work to do, Knutson said. It's a young team and at times, inconsistent.
"We have some work to do," Knutson said.
On the boys side, Kyle Rosenbaum was third in the triple jump with a leap of 43-11 3/4. Kevin Boyer was seventh in the triple with a leap of 42-3. Jace Ladenburg took fifth in the discus with a throw of 140 even, and Rosenbaum was fourth in the javelin at 171 even.
