On only their third night on a tennis court, the Columbia Falls girls tennis team showed some talent.

The Wildkats won 6-1 at Eureka Wednesday. It was the Wildkats first match of the season, and due to previous cold weather, just their third night not playing tennis in Ruder Elementary School's gymnasium.

"All the girls got matches and it was a great first match for the Wildkats," coach Jerry Smalley said.

Columbia Falls swept the four singles matches. In the No. 1 singles match, Kate Marcille beat Jenny Burns 6-2, 7-6 (7-2)). Emily Emmert won the No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-2 against Beca Richard.

Sarah Marcille and Lisa Carter both cruised to victories, too, winning 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively.

At No. 1 doubles, Wildkats Nikki Freebury and Crystal Nieves lost 3-6, 7-5, 2-6 against Gailey Dierman and Cara Parish

Columbia Falls then won the other two doubles matches. Donna Burns and Danielle Fagre won 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Chelsea Smith and Jessica Hopkins dominated for a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Columbia Falls also won easily in junior varsity action, taking 6-1 victory.

Mayumi Too won 6-1 for Columbia Falls in singles.

Winning at doubles for the Wildkats were: Dana Gross and Chelsey Wilson (6-2), Carrie Hopkins and Too (6-4), Stina Lyngmark and Chandra Foley (6-3), Marvette Arnold and Jessica Ferretti (6-1), and Carrie Hopkins and Adriana D'Argence (6-2).

Eureka's Martina Quade and Sasha Trudeau beat Cassie Hollopeter and Ashley Seelye 6-1.
