BCA thank you

| September 23, 2004 11:00 PM

The Bigfork Community Advocates would like to thank all that showed their support through their encouragement and generous donations. It is only through individual contributions that we will continue to be an active and vital presence in protecting Bigfork from developers who discover our quaint little village.

When the Bigfork Community Advocates came into being, the Harbor Springs/Mill Creek proposals on Holt Road were in full swing, planning very dense developments and we, as concerned citizens of Bigfork, had to organize and 'hit the road running' in order to stop them from proceeding. The BCA was instrumental in convincing the Flathead Planning Advisory Board and County Commissioners to deny the development as proposed. However, we are not out of the woods nor are these the only developments being proposed. We are currently awaiting a revised proposal by the Harbor Springs/Mill Creek developers to the Bigfork Land Use Advisory Board at the Bethany Lutheran Church at 4 p.m., Sept. 30, 2004. Additionally, there are other proposals in the process that merit a watchful eye: "Hanging Rock Road" development and "Eagle Cove" in the wetlands below Holt Drive are just two of the many that are awaiting processing.

With local planning advisory boards composed of builders, developers and realtors who are in a position of benefiting financially from their decisions, it is of concern whether the best interest of the community may or may not be represented. What we ask for is that those who make these decisions that dramatically affect our village listen to the voices of the community that they represent, instead of following their own ideologies.

Active participation is essential if we are to see that Bigfork has quality, controlled growth in the future. We have already seen significant and positive results from our intervention. The important issue is that we stay active within the process, maintain legal consul to advise and represent the community and keep pressure on those individuals who have the power to affect changes to our village. With your support we will be able to. The Bigfork Community Advocates encourages everyone to please stay active and attend all planning meetings. Anyone having any questions or comments may call our voice mail at (406) 881-2099

Sincerely,

The Bigfork Community Advocates
