Leonard Howell

Leonard H. "Len" Howell, 85, died Aug. 30, 2004, after a short illness.

He was born Feb. 7, 1919, on the family farm near Columbia Falls, a son of Minnie M. (Johnston) and Elmer C. Howell. His schooling was received at Deer Park School.

He worked in the logging industry and on the family farm, and after retiring kept a huge garden and was the local handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Elmer Mern Howell and Delbert Ross Howell; and sisters Shirley Louise Howell and Elma Jean (Howell) Johns.

Surviving Leonard are sisters Floy Idella Stalcup, Verna Ruby Howard and Arvelva Blanche Hoyt, all of Kalispell, Iva Mae Stryker, of Columbia Falls, and Jessie Pauline Wunderlich, of Valier; brother Walter Lynn Howell, of Garden Grove, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Leonard Howell's request, there will be no services. His ashes will be placed in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial gifts be sent to Deer Park School, Middle Road, Columbia Falls MT 59912, or to the charity of choice.
