Carrie Ellen (Weed) Wade

Carrie Ellen (Weed) Wade, 92, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at the Lakeview Care Center in Bigfork after a short stay. She was born On May 8, 1912 in downtown Bigfork to Alexander and Marie K (Gehres) Weed.

At age 5 she moved with her grandmother to Swan Lake to prove up a homestead. She stayed there until starting school. She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1930 and shortly thereafter went to Minneapolis, Minnesota to Asbury Hospital where she received certification as an X-Ray and Lad Technician. She married Erling Wade on January 10, 1942 in Minneapolis. They were married for 56 years. In 1949 Carrie and Erling moved back to Bigfork and raised a family. After Erling retired in 1974 they moved to Swan Lake on the family homestead. Swan Lake was Carries favorite spot. Her family and extended family were the most important things in her life and always enjoyed family being together at the lake.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband Erling, her brothers, Vernon Weed, Gehres Weed, Maynard Weed, George Weed and Willard Weed, and a sister Gladys (Weed) Melby.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Wade and wife Jessie of Bigfork; Kris Wade and wife Laurie of Missoula; and grandchildren, Christy Clare and husband Leo, Curt Wade and wife Marshelle, great grand-children, Ashley and Jordyn Clare and numerous nieces and nephews and special children who called her "grandma".

Graveside services were held at Lonepine Cemetery next to the Little Brown Church in Bigfork on Saturday, Oct. 24, with Pastor Ron Pierce officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
