Kenneth Caverly
Kenneth Edward Caverly, 73, passed away Oct. 17, 2004, at his residence at Bigfork. He was born on May 1, 1931, the son of Henry Louis and Rachel Elizabeth (Fox) Caverly at Somers, Montana.
He attended grade school in Somers until the family moved to Bigfork, where he attended schools until reaching the 10th grade. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. When he was young, he loved to dance. On Dec. 13, 1951, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was discharged on Dec. 4, 1953 and then served until 1959 in the Marine Reserves. He was united in marriage to Floretta L. Barnard on Sept. 22, 1957 in Kalispell. He worked for a time at the Ford dealership in Kalispell. He later went to work for the Forest Service where he worked as a log scaler and was also a fire fighter.
He enjoyed woodworking as he built tables, yard ornaments, bird baths and bird feeders. He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed sitting on the dock watching the wild turkeys and deer and many species of birds. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and taking rides to Apgar and getting a snack at Eddies Restaurant. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and also loved to tell stories and jokes, He was an avid reader and also loved spending time with his dog Sheba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Robert Caverly, brother Jim Caverly, daughter Karon Lea Caverly and son-in-law Rod Standley.
He is survived by his wife, Floretta Caverly, of Bigfork; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and "Grandma" Clara Beardsley, of Bigfork,
Funeral services for Kenneth were held Oct. 22, 2004, at the Little Brown Church at Bigfork. Burial followed at Lonepine Cemetery next to the church. Military Honors were conducted by the Veterans of the Flathead.
