Cora Orndorff
Cora Orndorff, 89, went to be with Jesus Oct. 14, 2004, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She died from congestive heart failure.
Cora was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Pisgah, Md., to Harry and Mary Rees. She was one of eight children. She met Bud Orndorff at a Methodist Church Halloween party in October 1937, and they were married Oct. 1, 1938, in Pisgah.
They moved between Maryland and Montana three times before settling down in Columbia Falls. She will be remembered as a great cook, serving Bud's home-grown vegetables and wild meat from his hunting trips that fed a large household. Bud and Cora recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and two sons, Alan and Paul.
She is survived by her husband Bud; brothers David and Harry; three sons and their wives, Gary and Carole Orndorff, of Missoula, Brian and Darlene Orndorff, of Kalispell, and Jan and Janet Orndorff, of Florence; one daughter and her husband Vicki and Ron Lamoreaux, of Echo Lake; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Oct. 19, 2004, at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.
Joseph Dunlap
Joseph Wayne Dunlap, born Aug. 11, 1926, took his final ride into the setting sun on Oct. 12, 2004.
A long-time resident of the Flathead Valley, the Hawaiian Islands and Arizona City, Ariz., he was a master electrician and an outfitter in Bob Marshall Wilderness.
He was affiliated with Shrine Clowns, Past Master, Past Watchmen of the Shepard, and Member of the Elks.
His final resting spot will be in the mountains of Montana. He was a unique and unforgettable person loved by many, feared by some and respected by all. He will truly be missed by all.
Dunlap is survived by his three children, Becky, of Pendleton, Ore., Bill, of Amarillo, Texas, and John, of Lemoore, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Michael, Travis, Michelle, Kathleen and Samantha.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Phyllis Wicklund
Phyllis Ann Wicklund, beloved mother, daughter and sister, joined her Creator and loved ones gone before her Oct. 11, 2004, at home in Kalispell of natural causes.
Phyllis was born to Ellis and Maribelle (Briggs) Wicklund on Jan. 20, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She moved to Kalispell with her family when she was seven years old and remained through graduation from Flathead County High School.
She loved teaching and began her career as the very first kindergarten teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in the early 1960s. Later she earned her master's degree in developmental psychology and then returned to Kalispell in the early 1980s to teach special education at Peterson Elementary and Flathead County High School.
Phyllis was a devoted teacher, retiring in the mid 1990s. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her beliefs were comforting to her. Phyllis' friendships were long lasting and of great importance. She will be remembered for her tremendous faith, delightful sense of humor and remarkable intelligence.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Ellis Wicklund, her step-father Thomas E. Brist, and her brother Harvey Wicklund.
She is survived by her son William Goetter, of Kalispell; her mother Maribelle Brist, of Kalispell; her brother Roger Wicklund, of Tacoma, Wash.; her sisters, Joan Morse, of Whitefish, Ellen Wicklund, of Ronan, and Jeanette Wicklund, of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Oct. 15, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Urn burial followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation-Montana Branch, 1643 Lewis Avenue, Suite 3, Billings MT 59902.
Opal Eyre
Opal Eyre, 81, Gilbertsville, Kent., formerly of Columbia Falls, died Oct. 13, 2004, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Briensburg Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Wise, who died Aug.12, 2003.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Fred Eyre; two sons, Allan Eyre and Marvin L. Eyre, both of Henderson, Kent.; one sister, Ruth Bull, of Bremerton, Wash.; three brothers, Raymond Beach, Harold Beach and Francis Beach, all of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service or visitation. There will be a private family burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, Kent.
