The majority view

| October 6, 2004 11:00 PM

This issue we bring you the story about a film The Fire Next Time: A Not in Our Town Special coming to town about the uglier side of Flathead County's politics.

The filmmaker isn't saying much about the film, at least not yet, but it should make for some (and we're being diplomatic here) interesting viewing. Look at the cast of characters. They're about as far apart on the political spectrum as one could ask for.

We know there's plenty of political strife here in the county. Some of it has even led to violence and ugly confrontations. But most of the Flathead is made up of folks who stop to help if you have a flat tire, or, if someone comes up sick, the hat gets passed around.

We're not about to gloss over our ugly side. Not in the least. But we're not willing to trounce the majority, either. It will be interesting to see the balance of this film and what, if anything, comes of it.
