James Carrico

James Carrico, 81, of Great Falls, retired railroad engineer, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at a hospital in Great Falls.

Jim was born May 1, 1923, in Great Falls, to Charles and Myrtle Carrico. He attended schools in Great Falls before going into the Navy on Feb. 1943. He was discharged in January 1946.

He worked in construction before going to work for the railroad. He was transferred to Whitefish in July of 1972. He retired in 1984. Jim and Marcia remained in Whitefish before returning to Great Falls in September of 2003. Jim was a member of the Elk's Lodge No. 214, and the VFW Post 276 of Whitefish.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Safransky, whom he married Dec. 22, 1966. A daughter, Cynthia Gold; a granddaughter, Lizzie Gold, both of Great Falls; a brother, Champ Carrico of Glendale, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sandra Eldridge, Betty Taylor, Carolyn Mondik and Marilyn Tornberg; and three brothers, Woodrow, Bill and Charles.

At Jim's request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home in Great Falls.
