Dorothy Marie Cox

Dorothy Marie Cox, age 88, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at her residence in Kalispell, Montana. She was born on Sept. 7, 1916 in the Demarsville community south of Kalispell, the daughter of William and Florence (Dowling) Lanegan. She was one of 13 children.

She attended schools in Kalispell until completing the 10th grade. She was united in marriage to Jim Doverspike in Kalispell and they relocated to California and were later divorced. She was later married to Taylor Cox and they lived in California for many years where they enjoyed traveling, camping, and sailing the Pacific Ocean. Following the death of Taylor, she moved back to Kalispell where she relished being around her family and tending to her garden. She enjoyed being out working in the yard and was still mowing her own yard. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed visiting museums. She also enjoyed listening to music and visiting with her neighbors. She regularly attended Easthaven Baptist Church in Kalispell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Taylor Cox, and her twelve brothers and sisters; stillborn twins, Isaac, George, Ralph, Henry, Ellen, Clara, Albert, Milo, Alice, James and Harry.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sandra Lanegan of Kalispell; Shirley Parker and her husband Jerry and Ellie Naumann and her husband George all of Bigfork; Mike Lanegan and his wife Linda of Glenellen, AK; Bev Langford of Charlotte, N.C. and numerous other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Easthaven Baptist Church, 1255 Highway 93 North Kalispell, MT 59901.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
