Floyd C. Hamilton

Floyd C. Hamilton passed away on Nov.15, 2004 in Encinitas, Calif. Mr. Hamilton was born in Havre, Montana on Aug.10, 1915. After attending local schools, he attended Northern Montana College. He started his banking career in Havre, and then spent several years as a bank examiner for First Bank Systems Corporation..

During World War II, he was a pilot in the United States Marine Corps flying many combat missions in the South Pacific theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Medal. He was proud of his service in the Marines and flew in the reserves after the war.

He continued his banking career in several locations in North Dakota and Montana. He served as President of the First National Park Bank in Livingston, Mont. from 1957 until retiring in 1971. He was active in community affairs and was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed fishing in the Yellowstone River. Mr. Hamilton served as a member of the Montana State Board of Pardons. After his retirement he lived in Borrego Springs, Calif. and Whitefish, Mont, enjoying the outdoors, playing golf, painting and collecting western art.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Valessa Jean Hamilton. He is survived by his daughter Jane Tempkin and husband Rick of San Diego California; sons Brett Hamilton and wife Sue of Germany; Jeff Hamilton and wife Martha of Spokane, Washington; Jim Hamilton and wife Stacey of Ocean Ridge, Florida; sister Laurel Knapp and husband Richard of Havre, Mont.; brother Terry Stevenson and wife Mary Ann of Gildford, Mont.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
