| November 19, 2004 11:00 PM

The Columbia Falls volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 1-2 record at divisionals, which means the team won't advance to state.

The Kats lost their first match to Ronan in four games, 25-16, 25-24, 26-25 and 25-21.

But then the Kats came back against Bigfork in loser-out action, downing the Vals for the first time this year, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-18. The match was quite an upset, considering that Bigfork had just beaten Whitefish at the end of the regular season.

Columbia Falls had 16 aces in the match-five apiece by Nikki Freebury and Dani Herman. Freebury also had 12 kills, Herman had nine and Shanelle Swift had seven.

Kate Marcille had 30 assists and 10 digs, while Holly Peek had four blocks and Donna Burns had 10 digs.

The Kats then faced Ronan on Saturday in loser-out action. Ronan got the best of the Kats again, beating them in five games, 24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 15-25 and 9-15.

The Kats finished the year at 6-12. Dani Herman had 17 kills 21 digs and 12 blocks.

Kate Marcille had 41 assists in the loss. Freebury had 20 digs.

Herman was named the the all-divisional squad.
