Catherine "Rita" McCue

Catherine "Rita" McCue, age 93, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home. Rita was born Dec. 11, 1910 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was the oldest of four children.

Rita married Jack E. Conner, Aug. 10, 1929. The couple had one daughter, Florence "Betty" Connor. Rita later married "Mac" McCue on Nov. 24, 1934.

Rita worked as a factory worker for Triad Transformer's She was a life-long member of Job's Daughters and also a daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Rita enjoyed crocheting and taking care of the family history document, dating back to the Civil War and her great grand father George D. Snider. She also enjoyed cats.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband and daughter Betty.

She is survived by granddaughter Marie Williams of Northridge, Calf., and great granddaughter Jolene Williams, also of Northridge; Great niece Barbara Melichar of Whitefish.

No local services will be held. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Kenny Kassselder

Kenny Kasselder, 37, a native of Whitefish, died climbing Mount Hood with his dear friend, Shaun Olcott, on November 4.

His memory will be celebrated by his three children, Zachary, 5, Chloe, 3, and Garrett, 2; his wife Brittany, his mother, JoEllen Cookson; and many family members, including the Phillips' family - Lyle and Judy, Don and Jeanie, Debbie Phillips; cousins, including Taunja and Mark Wagner, Brett Miller and wife Brenda, Ty Phillips, Aaron and Arica Phillips; the MacLean and Holland families, including Dolores and Jim Holland, William MacLean, David and Niki MacLean, Alison MacLean, and many friends throughout the Northwest and Alaska.

He was preceded in death this year by Hank Cookson, his dad. Kenny's natural home was the outdoors and his passion was climbing.

For the past six years, Kenny and his family resided in Juneau, Alaska.

Services to honor his life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Whitefish at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13. A celebration to honor and remember him for all those who will miss him will be at Truby's in Whitefish, immediately following the service.
