Concert series

Steve Eckels, a classical guitarist, will be the featured artist at 8 p.m., Aug. 5, as part of the summer concert series at Marantette Park in Columbia Falls. Steve plays everything from classical to country. Cost is $5 for families or $3 per person. Event is sponsored by the Columbia Falls Lions Club.

Rummage sale

The Glacier Twins will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 31 under the pavilion at Memorial Field. To donate items, call Rita at 863-4808 or Bob at 862-9011. All proceeds help the Twins.

Boat tour

The Flathead Food Bank will hold a boat tour for its volunteers at 10:30 a.m. July 30 aboard the Far West Cruise Line. Far West donates the tour, which will include lunch and prizes. Call 752-3363 for more information.

Scholarships

Several Columbia Falls graduates have been offered scholarships by the University of Idaho, including Brad Bennett, David Burgess, Megan DeReu, Branden Frey, Ben Sturz, Lorna Weidling and Anne Wright.

Aurorafest

The annual Aurorafest will be at the Northern Lights Saloon on Aug. 14. Proceeds benefit several area non-profits. Tickets are $22.50 in advance or $25 at the door. Concerts begin at noon with Montana Marimba Ensemble, Clinton Fearon, The Ecclestons and many others. Tickets are available at Army Navy in Columbia Falls or call 888-5669.

Car show

The Rocky Mountain Street Machines car show and swap is at Gil's Store on Highway 40 outside Columbia Falls from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14. Call Kavin at 756-3650 or Sandie at 892-3358 to reserve a space.

Graduates

Elsie Thomas, of Columbia Falls, recently graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.

Leonard Lopp

The artwork of Glacier Park artist Leonard Lopp will be showcased from Aug. 5 through Oct. 16 at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell. A reception by Lopp's son, Robert, will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5. Tours will be given Aug. 11 at 1 p.m., Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. at Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. or every Thursday at noon. Also on display will be more than 50 photographs by members of the Glacier Camera Club.

Garage sale

There will be a "muy grande" garage sale on July 30-31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the west parking lot of Glacier Bank in Columbia Falls. This sale is to help the Columbia Falls High School Foreign Language Club raise money for their trip to Costa Rica in March 2005. It is a multi-family sale, so have a look at the "grande" amount of treasures and support the students by shopping at this event.
