Community choir
The community choir starts its weekly practices Sunday, Jan. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and each Sunday thereafter until its concert March 12. Practices are in the Columbia Falls High School Choir Room. If you would like to join or need more information, call Ron Bond at 892-5174.
Lecture tickets
Season tickets are now available for the third annual John White Lecture Series, scheduled this winter at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell. Season tickets for the series of four lectures are on sale for $25 to members of the Northwest Montana Historical Society and $30 to non-members. Tickets for individual lectures are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. The talks will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the last Sunday of January, February, March and April. Arts in the Park
Artist applications are now available for the Hockaday Museum of Art's 37th annual Arts in the Park. This juried art fair will be held July 22, 23 and 24, 2005 in Kalispell's Depot Park. It is open to all artists and craftspeople producing original and handcrafted work. A benefit for the Hockaday Museum, Arts in the Park is Northwest Montana's largest and longest-running art and entertainment fair, with arts and crafts booths, food, music and entertainment. Square dance

Resolution run
The annual Kalispell resolution run begins at 1 p.m. Jan. 1 at the Kalispell Athletic Club. Racers try to predict their times on four- and two-mile courses. Call 752-2880 for more information.
Dog races
The annual Root Beer Classic sled dog race is scheduled for Jan. 8 and Jan. 9 in Polebridge. Races start in the morning each day and run as far as 30 miles up Hay Creek. Races start at 10 a.m. Call 888-5105 for more information.
Student of the week
Tiana Fredenberg, a junior at Columbia Falls High School, has been selected student of the week for Jan. 3. She was nominated because she is very organized and hard working. She has a great sense of humor. Tiana is the daughter of Whitney Giddeon, of Kalispell, and receives a personal pan pizza compliment of Pizza Hut.
