Wants a fair wage

In the July 7 Daily Inter Lake, it was reported that a handful of state employees were given up to 14.5 percent raises, and yet most of us state employees have a measly little 25-cent hourly increase expected in January, and our wages have been frozen for two years up to January 2004.

How can such a ruling be justified in anyone's heart or conscience, if they have one? The heads of departments should treat all employees as they would want to be treated, not just a so-called chosen few friends or colleagues.

When a raise is given, make it fair for all employees—just because some have college degrees does not make them better than anyone else.

The CNAs, laundry, kitchen and housekeepers all work very hard physically every day at work. In fact, most of us could not keep up with them on any given day. They deserve a reasonable hourly wage, as do other state workers. Just make it fair to all. Don't be so self-centered.

It is absolutely true that each of us have to be accountable someday for all our actions. Nothing can be hidden. Why is it so hard to be kind and fair to all our fellow men? Selfishness is truly the root of all evil.
