Rebecca "Becky" Trablik

Rebecca "Becky" Trablik, age 77, of Kalispell, passed away on Monday, August 9, at Brendan House in Kalispell. She was born on November 16, 1926 in Goodland, Kansas the daughter of George and Mary Edmonds Mayer.

She grew up in the heart of the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression. Music was always her heart and soul. She was educated in Kansas and graduated from Brownville, Kansas High School. She attended and graduated from Fort Hays State College in Hays, Kansas in 1944 with a Bachelors of Music Degree. In Sept. 1948 she was united in marriage to Phillip E. Trablik in Kansas. The moved to Kalispell in 1953, settling in the Mountain Brook community.

Becky taught orchestra at Flathead County High School, and sixth grade at Somers, Montana and high school band at Bigfork. She taught grade school at Mountain Brook for 16 years. She followed that with band and first grade at Fair-Mont-Eagan for the next 10 years, finishing with a 14-year stint teaching at the Nazarene Christian Academy. She finally semi-retired in 1995.

Throughout her life and career she taught many of the valley children the pleasures of music by providing private instruction in piano as well as virtually any other instrument of interest. She was very active in her church, First Baptist Church in Coumbia Falls, generally playing either the piano or organ weekly. Another of her great joys was crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Phillip in Nov. 1993.

She is survived by her brother Paul of Theodosia, Mo., and a massive amount of friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Columbia Falls, Mont. Burial will follow at Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Memorial gifts may be sent to Hospice - Home Options, 175 Commons Loop Suite 100 Kalispell, MT 59901.
