Relay team takes gold at state swim meet
The Columbia Falls swim team had a great showing at the state meet in Fort Benton last weekend, taking fifth place overall with about a dozen swimmers placing in the top three spots.
Erik Anderson took third in three intermediate events—the 100 meter freestyle and backstroke, and the 50 meter fly. Alexandra Bartkoski took third in two events —the 100 meter individual medley and the 50 meter fly.
Blayne Bennett took third and second, respectively, in the 100 meter free and 100 meter fly in the senior age bracket, and Scott Boyd took second in the 50 meter backstroke.
Alan Newton had a 1-2-3 punch, taking first in the 100 meter backstroke, second in the 200 individual medley, and third in the 100 meter breast stroke.
The 13- and 14-year-old boys relay team also took home gold in the four-by-100 relay and the 100 medley relay.
Bria Ward took second in her age group in the 50 meter backstroke, and Zak Ward took second in the boys senior division in three events—the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, and 100 meter fly.
Tim Yudysky also took second place in the boys senior 100 meter breaststroke.
