C-Falls basketball players earn post season honors

Six Columbia Falls basketball players picked up post season honors this week as the All-State and All-Conference teams were announced.

Two Wildcats and four Wildkat team members picked up honors, led by senior Ryley Kehr, who was named All-State First and All-Conference First Team as well as Northwest A Conference Co-MVP, in a tie with Libby’s Jayden Winslow.

Kehr was second in the state in Class A in scoring at 15.4 points per game during the regular season and led the state in steals with 4.3 per contest. She also tied for third in the state in assists at 3.8 per game.

Season highlights for Kehr included a 30-point game against Corvallis in the Divisional Tournament and tying the state record for steals in a single game with 16 against Polson.

Senior forward Trista Cowan was also named All-State and All-Conference first team after finishing the regular season seventh in the state in scoring at 12.9 points per game and second in rebounding at 9.9 per contest. Cowan was also third in blocked shots at 1.6 per game, fifth in two-point percentage at 56 percent and 10th in steals at 2.8 per game.

Season highlights for Cowan included a 22-point, 13 rebound game against Big Fork and a 21-point, 17 rebound outing against Browning.

Sophomore guard LaKia Hill was named All-Conference Second Team after a season in which she averaged 6.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 3.8 assists per game. Her 3.8 assists were tied with Kehr for third in the state.

Season highlights for Hill include a 17-point, five assist, three steal game against Whitefish and a 10 point, four steal, three assist game against Polson.

Junior forward Josie Windauer also picked up All-Conference Second Team honors after a season in which she averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game during the regular season.

Windauer had several outstanding games for the Kats this season, including an 11 point, 14 rebound outing at Browning in January and a 16 point, 13 rebound game against the Lady Indians in the Divisional Championship.

The Wildcats basketball team had two players honored as Drew Morgan was named to the second team and Sam Hovde was honorable mention.

Morgan averaged 10.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.6 assists per game this season, including a 15 point, 11 rebound, five assist and four steal outing against Ronan.

Hovde averaged 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and scored a career high 22 points against Libby in his final game at the conference tournament.
