Richard Lee ‘Rick’ Klein

Rick passed away July 24, 2019, at the Whitefish Care Center.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Columbia Falls Canvas Church, 737 Third Ave. West, Columbia Falls.

Rick was born March 4, 1939, at Gilmore City, Iowa, to Chester and Roberta Klein. After graduation from Fort Dodge, Iowa High School, he served in the Navy as a machinist mate aboard the USS Kearsarge.

A few years later he found his way to Montana, the place he loved and lived the rest of his life.

He was a jack-of-all-trades. He tried on many hats and the hat that fit the best was working with horses.

He was a charter member of Backcountry Horsemen of the Flathead.

For many years Rick was a volunteer with North Valley Search and Rescue, Bad Rock Fire Department and the Veterans Food Pantry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Rick is survived by sisters, Grace Becke, Beverly Kunik (Ronald), and Sandra Eddy (Tom); brother, Chet Klein; and many nieces and nephews.
